Free Score: “Lord, I have cried” (First Tone)

This week, I’m sharing a free, fully notated score of “Lord, I have cried” (Κύριε ἐκέκραξα) in the First Tone, written in standard Western notation. You can download the score here:

This is how the Dorian mode functions when harmonized within Byzantine Polyphony.

This score intentionally applies specific modal techniques throughout, as structure. These choices are meant to demonstrate how harmony clarifies and amplifies what the mode already contains.

A static ison alone cannot do this. Only harmony can fully release the emotional gravity and mathematical precision of the Dorian mode.
